Public liability insurance isn’t technically a legal requirement in the UK, but it can be highly beneficial for plumbers. Because you’re involved in high-risk activities like working with water and heating systems, accidents can happen, and you want to make sure you’re covered when they do. Luckily, Public Liability is included in our Plumber’s Insurance package as standard. Learn more about public liability insurance by reading our guide.
It depends on the scope of your work, but professional indemnity insurance is recommended if you offer design or consultancy services. Standard hands-on work will generally rely on public liability insurance instead, but professional indemnity is a good idea if you’re creating blueprints or system specifications for clients. You can choose Professional Indemnity insurance as additional cover when choosing your Plumber Insurance package with Kingsbridge.
Some people struggle to know the difference between professional indemnity insurance vs public liability, but we’ve got plenty of advice and information.
Operating without proper plumbers insurance means that you’re more vulnerable to financial risks. You might also miss out on winning jobs, as lots of clients require proof of proper insurance before hiring, especially for large-scale projects. If you don’t have proper liability insurance, you could be held personally liable for the cost of accidents or property damage caused during your work.
If something occurs whilst you’re working, you’ll want to make a claim as soon as possible. Luckily, we have a dedicated claims team who will look after you and guide you through the claims process. You can call our claims department on 01242 808 740.
